Some of the most common cardiac conditions we treat at our heart care center:

Congenital heart defects: A congenital heart defect is an abnormality present at birth. Find information on specific types tailored to adults with heart defects and parents of children diagnosed with a defect.

Pericarditis: Pericarditis is inflammation of the pericardium, two thin layers of a sac-like tissue that surrounds the heart, holds it in place and helps it work. A common symptom of pericarditis is chest pain, caused by the sac’s layers becoming inflamed and possibly rubbing against the heart.

Peripheral artery disease: Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a narrowing of the peripheral arteries to the legs, stomach, arms, and head — most commonly in the arteries of the legs.

Coronary artery disease: Coronary heart disease is a common term for the buildup of plaque in the heart’s arteries that could lead to heart attack.

Venous thromboembolism: VTE is a term for blood clots that get lodged in the veins and may block blood flow. It includes deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).

Heart failure:  Heart failure means that the heart isn't pumping as well as it should be. Congestive heart failure is a type of heart failure which requires seeking timely medical attention, although sometimes the two terms are used interchangeably.
